Basel, with the Rhine in the middle of the city, offers a multi-layered site to experience this project. With the positioning of the ship in the Rhine, we move the accident in the Suez Canal to Basel, in original scale.

Experience the augmented reality from six different scenic points at the Rhine.

virtual: not real, not present in reality, but appearing real. My last months don't really seem to have happened according to this definition, because I spent a lot of time in virtual spaces. But isn't the black box in the theater pretty virtual too? I place my body in front of a display, I use different (virtual) backdrops, I can make my body appear bigger, more beautiful and powerful or even make it disappear. An experimental setting for surfaces and bodies.

CHINAME interview documentary is a video work created from CHINAME research by Xiao Ke x Zi Han and consists of three documentaries. For «Friends & Family» at New Normal Xiao Ke x Zi Han present their first documentary from the series: «Chinese?»

The archive comes from around 150 interviewees who had a talk with the two artists about Chinese identity topics. Interviewees coming from different regions share their personal stories, relationship, and opinions.

The documentary aims to open the audience's mind to think about identity issues in the global background. And most important for CHINAME project is to let each individual be seen and heard from the documentary.

In this audio walk, the audience is guided through their apartment - through a place that we all think we know particularly well after the long months of lockdown and home office. And what did these months do to us in our apartments? Experience a very private, unique self-performance.
