Arriving in the post-digital world
IIt is time for a new normality: „Look into my eyes, analog-digital interface.“ 6 artistic teams confront themselves with a new reality and instead of just watching, they explore new artistic forms and modes of expression at eye level with digital media. Their new home: www.newnormal.art, a digital platform that becomes their stage even without real boards.
The new openings of the BAG won't take us back to a pre-Covid time. We, therefore, want to welcome the new times with New Normal and plunge into it with passion. We are already living in a post-Covid era in which our thinking is based on Covid. This means that the experiences we have made have become indispensable, not even in our art perception and our art creation. This is what the makers of New Normal understand by new normality.
„Welcome to the other side of the rainbow.“ New Normal is also a declaration of independence from artists who no longer want to postpone their premieres month after month, who no longer want to rehearse for a day X in a future that is still uncertain.
quick 'n dirty
Director, film maker and actor Lorenz Nufer initiated New Normal together with the dramaturg Eva Böhmer: At the beginning of March, the project began with a joint think tank: Experts gave insights into the world of post-digitality, complicity, and participation, first ideas for the digital space arose and the project developments began.
The artistic works, which will be shown from May 1st to 15th were created during a short period of a few weeks. These works present different artistic approaches to the post-digital world, they are open processes, tryouts and suggestions for new aesthetic forms. That is why the motto of New Normal is quick 'n dirty: It is about becoming visible again as quickly as possible, enabling a large scope of participation and engaging in an exchange with the audience. On the specially created platform and via the social media channels of New Normal, Instagram, Facebook, and Telegram the audience can become active themselves and discuss the work with each other and with the artists.
